About

I was born in Albania, located in the southwest corner of Eastern Europe.  I crossed the Atlantic at seventeen, but part of me never left Albania.  I now live in East Texas (a fascination with the East perhaps?) with my husband and our little boy.

The kitchen is my playground where I am surrounded by pots and pans, bushels of vegetables and bowls full of fruit.  It is where memories of Albania are rewound and replayed, experienced anew, with a few added spices, techniques, and flavors.  The kitchen is where I rest, learn, experiment; it is where the many parts of myself collide onto each other, like strangers in the street.  They turn to look and meet a familiar gaze, a part of self that was missing, and in a moment of magic, they embrace, like perfectly married ingredients; they comprise a whole of many parts.

I just graduated (May 2009) with an MA in English and I finally have time to write about food and hobbies, and not Marxist or Postmodern Theory, which I do enjoy, strangely enough.  This blog has been on my mind for a while. It is a place where I relax and sit down with a cup of coffee, and have a good conversation, sharing stories and recipes with readers.  My hope is that it will transform into a place where a community of people passionate about food, travel, and home can meet and have significant exchanges and inspiration.

I love sharing my thoughts and eats, and I already feel like I am nurturing a small baby into maturity.  As all new mothers, at times I may question myself, make mistakes, but as all loving mothers, I will keep writing, sharing, and loving this little world I am creating.  I hope it is a safe place where you can sit and enjoy.  I hope we can talk and communicate and share our experiences here, like good old friends that meet after a long time and pick up mid-conversation, as if they never had been apart.

If you would like to write to me, you may do so at radadaisy (at) [gmail] (dot) [com].

Welcome to The Split Pea! Thank you for peeking in and stop by anytime!

-E.
